CCBH environmental health specialists conduct inspections of over 300 schools twice per year. During these inspections, our staff identify health and safety conditions that may pose a threat to students and staff.
Focal points of school inspections include:
- air quality
- chemical handling
- disease prevention
- electrical safety
- fire safety and prevention
- food handling
- pest control
- playground safety
Food service operations and swimming pools in schools are routinely inspected during the school year.
Sanitarians also respond to nuisance complaints and public health concerns on school properties throughout the year.
CCBH staff communicate regularly with school administrators to discuss any matters regarding health related concerns in school buildings, on playgrounds, etc.
