Welcome Home Newborn Visiting Program
Bringing home a new baby is a very exciting experience, but it also comes with many questions and concerns for parents.
The Welcome Home Newborn Visiting program offers a home visit from a registered nurse within the first 6 weeks of the baby coming home.
Our nurses provide families with answers and guidance about keeping their baby healthy and safe.
A program funded by Invest in Children, our local partners include:
Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest & Fairview Hospitals, MetroHealth, University Hospitals and Moms First.
A home visiting representative will sign up eligible families during their hospital stay.
In 2023, more than 1,700 moms received a home visit from one of our Welcome Home program nurses.
During the home visit, the nurse will:
- Weigh your baby
- Do a baby health check
- Talk with you about baby care
- Give you a free diaper bag and resources
- Answer questions about baby and self care
Common questions or concerns include:
- Feeding including bottle and breast
- Safe sleeping arrangements
- Weight loss
- Umbilical cord healing
- Maternal depression
