CCBH Board Members

The CCBH Board is comprised of five members, one of whom is appointed from the District Licensing Council, which also provides an alternate Board member.  CCBH Board members are appointed to five-year staggered terms by the District Advisory Council.

Board meetings are held monthly to review and approve all agency-related fiscal, legal, program and planning operations.  The Health Commissioner serves as Secretary to the CCBH Board and is appointed by the Board as is the Medical Director.

District Advisory Council

The District Advisory Council (DAC) includes the 22 mayors and trustees of the villages and townships of Cuyahoga County and the Office of the Cuyahoga County Executive. The DAC is required, under section 3709.03 of the Ohio Revised Code, to meet annually in March to authorize our contracts with the cities we serve, to review and approve our annual report, and to appoint members to our Board of Health.

Child and Family Health Services Executive Committee

This committee provides guidance to and oversight of the Child & Family Health Services (CFHS) grant program.  Members include community partners with expertise or interest in maternal and child health issues, sub-grantees, and the CFHS Project Director.

Cleveland Area Restaurant Association

The Cleveland Area Restaurant Association (CARA) is a 300-member local alliance of restaurants, purveyors, and associates who provide products, equipment and services to the hospitality industry. Cleveland Urban Area/Cuyahoga County Urban Area Working Group

The Cuyahoga County Board of Health participates as a voting member on the Steering Committee for the Urban Area Working Group (UAWG),  also known as the Counter and Anti-Terrorism Committee.

The UAWG advises the County Executive and County Council on emergency management, public safety, emergency services, and homeland security matters.  Its focus is to improve the capacity in the County of Cuyahoga to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from major emergency incidents; and to make this improved capacity available to municipal corporations and townships, pursuant to Section 307.15 of the Ohio Revised Code.

Cuyahoga Community College – Culinary /Hospitality Management Advisory Board

This advisory board includes representation from the lodging, food service, and tourism industries.  Members work with the faculty, staff, and students of CCC’s program to review and update curriculum in order to keep it current, flexible, and related to the needs of the hospitality industries.

Cuyahoga County Child Fatality Review Committee

The Child Fatality Review Committee focus is the causes of death of children less than 18 years of age.  Circumstances surrounding these deaths are examined in order to identify risk factors and make recommendations for prevention.

Membership includes physicians, nurses, social workers, law enforcement, medical examiner, death scene investigators, and mental health experts.  A report is published annually providing detailed information on child deaths in Cuyahoga County, including programming aimed at prevention.

This committee meets on a quarterly basis to ensure availability of safety net services for those most in need, as well as to facilitate communication among the health systems and third party payers in Cuyahoga County.

Cuyahoga County Medical Advisory Committee

The Cuyahoga County Board of Health coordinates this committee to discuss medical issues associated with emergency preparedness planning and community-based prevention of infectious diseases.

Members include infectious disease practitioners for local hospitals as well as emergency management and public health officials.

Cuyahoga Regional HIV Services Planning Council

The mission of the Planning Council is to arrange for the comprehensive delivery of HIV/AIDS services and to allocate resources for the Transitional Grant Area (TGA), as mandated by the Ryan White Part A legislation. The goal of the Planning Council is to identify HIV-positive individuals, get them linked with proper care, and to improve health outcomes.

Family and Children First Council

Health Improvement Partnership – Cuyahoga

HIP-Cuyahoga (HIP-C) utilizes a community -driven process to conduct health and social assessments, identify priorities and implement a comprehensive and collaborative approach for carrying out and funding health improvement strategies. HIP-C subcommittees meet regularly to direct the assessment process and develop a comprehensive community health improvement plan.

Healthy Homes Advisory Council of Greater Cleveland

HHAC is a community collaborative dedicated to the pursuit of a lead-safe and healthy Cuyahoga County.  The mission is to foster collaborations among community partners to assess, reduce and prevent illnesses and unintentional injuries associated with indoor environments – including childhood lead poisoning and respiratory illness such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease also known as COPD.

Hoarding Coalition

The Cuyahoga County Hoarding Connection’s mission is to provide support and advice, education, development of best practices, and assistance in identifying needed resources for individuals who hoard and those that work with individuals who hoard. The members of the Hoarding Coalition represent more than 20 organizations from the public, nonprofit and private sectors working together to raise awareness of this emerging mental illness.

Northcoast Brownfield Coalition

The Northcoast Brownfield Coalition was formed to foster a collaborative approach and focus limited resources to brownfield redevelopment throughout Cuyahoga County.

Partnership for Prevention Coalition

The Cuyahoga County Prescription for Prevention Coalition was formed through the Ohio Department of Health as part of a statewide coordinated effort to approach Ohio’s prescription drug abuse epidemic. The Cuyahoga County Coalition is comprised of a wide range of members with professional backgrounds including Law Enforcement, Treatment, Regulatory Authority and Public Health.

Local coalitions are raising awareness, involving community leaders, hosting collection events, and identifying potential solutions to begin reducing the epidemic of fatalities associated with the misuse of prescription medication.

Promoting Health Across boundaries – Cleveland Advisory Board

The mission of the Promoting Health Across Boundaries (PHAB) initiative is to advance the knowledge and practice of boundary-spanning activities that enable health. PHAB focuses particularly on promoting understanding at the boundaries between individuals and families, primary health care, health care systems and communities.

PHAB’s goal is to develop and share new knowledge about the connections that foster health. PHAB is coordinated locally by Case Western Reserve University.

Sewer Pipe Users Group (SPUG) – Northeast Ohio

SPUG was created in 1996 to educate and solve issues such as sewer maintenance, rehabilitation, and operation problems. SPUG is governed by a chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, and treasurer and terms are one year in duration.

Membership includes 21 municipalities and three engineering firms and consultants.  Meetings are held four times per year, including an annual equipment show in September at the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, 4747 E. 49th Street, Cuyahoga Heights.  OEPA contact hours are available for members who need to fulfill continuing education requirements.
