2019-2023 Infectious Disease Report
This report provides a five-year summary of reportable infectious diseases in Cuyahoga County from 2019 through 2023. Developed by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health (CCBH) Epidemiology and Communicable Disease teams, it highlights disease trends, outbreaks, and surveillance findings that inform local public health response and prevention efforts.
The report includes data on major infectious disease categories such as COVID-19, influenza, mpox, Lyme disease, healthcare-associated infections (HAI), and non-COVID-19 outbreaks. It also describes changes in disease patterns during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, including impacts on surveillance, testing, and healthcare access.
Data presented in this report are collected through the Ohio Disease Reporting System (ODRS) and other state-supported surveillance systems. The findings support public health planning, outbreak response, and ongoing efforts to reduce the burden of infectious diseases in Cuyahoga County.
