About the Health Commissioner
Terry Allan has been the health commissioner at the Cuyahoga County Board of Health since 2004,
which serves as the local public health authority for 886,170 citizens in 58 Greater Cleveland
communities. Terry has been with the Board for 21 years, with direct program and administrative
experience in Environmental Health, Epidemiology and Surveillance and Community Health programs. He
holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Bowling Green State University and a Master of
Public Health degree from the University of Hawaii. He is an adjunct faculty member at Case Western
Reserve University’s School of Medicine and also co-chaired the Health and Caring Investment
Committee for the United Way of Greater Cleveland from 2005-2007. He is a member of the Greater
Cleveland Health Care Association Board of Trustees, the Cuyahoga County Family and Children First
Council and a member of the Executive Committee on the Cuyahoga County Invest In Children
Initiative. Terry is the current President of the Association of Ohio Health Commissioners (AOHC).
He has served on several advisory panels for the United States Department of Housing and Urban
Development’s Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control and the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) and is a Year 13 Scholar of CDC’s National Public Health Leadership Institute.
Terry was recently elected to a second two year term as an At-Large member of the Board of
Directors for the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). He
represented NACCHO on the Standards Development Workgroup of the National Public Health
Accreditation Board.
Administration
| Administration Services provides coordination for all of the policy, program planning,
grants , fiscal, legal, information technology, and human
resources functions of the agency. The development of the annual strategic priorities and
performance goals for CCBH across Environmental Health,
Nursing, Community Health and Epidemiology, Surveillance, and Informatics programs is
facilitated by Administration Services. |
